About the Artist
I am a contemporary impressionist painter and printmaker based in Detroit, Michigan. Working from Studio #1 at the historic Scarab Club, I create observation-based drawings, hand-carved prints, and paintings inspired by the people, places, and experiences that shape my life. I graduated from Northern Michigan University. Each work begins with direct observation. I draw from life, develop the image through printmaking, and often transform it into a final painting. This process allows me to slow down, look carefully, and find meaning in subjects ranging from Detroit architecture and community spaces to family history, artists at work, and moments of everyday connection. Before becoming a full-time artist, I earned degrees in History and Nursing and worked as a registered nurse. That background continues to influence my work through close observation, empathy, and an interest in the stories people carry with them. My solo exhibitions include Where Art Lives (MAC Gallery, 2026), Undeniable Joy (The Congregation, 2024), CityScapes (Brewery Park, 2023), and Belle Isle Series (2023). I have also exhibited in numerous group exhibitions throughout Michigan, including Detroit DNA, Spectrum, and the Gilda Snowden Memorial Exhibition. In 2026, I received First Place in a five-state juried exhibition at Crooked Tree Arts Center and was previously selected as the inaugural poster artist for the Belle Isle Art Fair. In addition to my studio practice, I create opportunities for artists and collectors to connect through exhibitions, community projects, and the Featured Artist Dinner series, which has raised more than $24,000 for working artists. For me, art is a way of paying attention—to beauty, to place, to one another, and to the stories that deserve to be seen.
