Journey I was born and raised in Detroit, and the city has shaped who I am as both a person and an artist. Everywhere I look, I see stories waiting to be preserved—from historic buildings and neighborhoods to the textures of manhole covers, ironwork, and architectural details that many people pass by without noticing. More than 25 years ago, I discovered that clay was the perfect medium to capture those stories. Since then, I have dedicated my life to hand-building every piece I create. Each work is individually sculpted, kiln-fired, and finished by hand, making every piece one of a kind. My fingerprint, impressed into each piece, is my personal signature and a reminder that every work is created with my own hands. As an Architectural Expressionist and Potter, my mission is to preserve Detroit’s history before it is forgotten. I create art that celebrates the city’s resilience, its neighborhoods, and the people whose lives have shaped its legacy. Whether I am honoring a landmark, a historic street, or a familiar symbol of Detroit, I hope my work sparks memories, starts conversations, and inspires pride in the city we love. Over the years, I have been honored to exhibit my work in galleries, museums, and art festivals throughout Michigan, where I have met collectors who share my passion for Detroit’s history. Their stories remind me that art has the power to connect generations and preserve memories. For me, creating is more than making pottery—it’s about leaving behind a piece of Detroit’s story.
