About the Artist
Timothy J. Seppala spent over a decade as a reporter with a camera in his hand before discovering his photographic voice as an artist. Based in Detroit, he shoots what most people walk past: club shows, the kids posing on Woodward Ave. like they're in a rap group. His award-winning work has appeared in 12+ exhibitions across metro Detroit, including Lawrence Street Gallery, Composing Detroit, Gallery @ Ideation Orange and The Voyeur Bordello, and has been published in nine editorial outlets. He's sold 40+ original prints since 2022. In 2025 he co-founded Aartherapy, a community organization using creativity as a tool for managing anxiety and mental health, where he teaches photography to substance abuse survivors and the housing-insecure.
