About the Artist
For most of her life, Traci Mitchell was an outsider to the art world, working in a Detroit corporate environment. Although she had always loved art and design, she didn’t begin painting seriously until the Covid lockdown, when she decided to teach herself watercolor. She painted every day and, good or bad, mailed her work to friends and family to brighten their day during an uncertain time. What began as a daily creative practice eventually grew into a larger body of work focused on ordinary moments, familiar objects, and a sense of home and nostalgia. Today, Traci continues to develop her work while sharing it with a wider audience through exhibitions, art fairs, and her studio brand, Chère Maison.
