About the Artist
Freeform, spontaneous, raw and organic; with a steadfast belief in the expressive power of abstract art. I seek to create visually interesting and layered textural artwork, exploring gestural movements shaped by intuition and experimentation to capture energy and emotion. Working primarily with acrylic, pastes, and ink, most of my pieces are unplanned compositions that can start on a frenzied or chaotic path, evolving organically and ultimately leading to a balanced and harmonious composition. For me, painting is a performative act. I let the mediums take me on a journey of texture, color and light. A feeling, emotion, and more importantly…sound, rhythm or a certain piece of music supports the journey. I create abstract art that encourages individual interpretation of each piece. I use acrylic, ink, pencil, fiber paste, volcanic ash, thread and other mediums on paper, canvas and wood panels. I repurpose vintage and found frames for my wood panel pieces. Born and raised in Alabama, where I studied art history and technical illustration; I began painting in 2020. I am currently located in the greater Detroit, Michigan area where I have been juried into numerous group shows. Select works available at Posterity Gallery in Grosse Pointe, MI.
