About the Artist
I started painting with acrylics largely toward the end of 2021, having facilitated my son in doing so the previous five years through his elementary years. 2022 was a year of great creativity, being inspired very much through memory and fantasy, and the experimentation of seeing a painting develop. I got involved with AllArtWorks gallery in Grand Rapids, and a seed was placed in me to create something larger, resulting in my "Dunollie Castle (ruin)" 36x24 inch piece of that year. My productivity slowed down a bit in 2023, and some people close to me passed on that Fall, including my friend Aaron Curtner who was an artist, and he was a primary factor in my having started creating art in the first place. Having taken most of 2024 off from painting, I got going again late in that year and haven't stopped for too long a time since! Gratitude tends to be my inspiration as I paint, to remain in the present. Feedback from the painting process itself informs what I create, and I work from the loosest of frameworks, never penciling in an outline for example. I wish a blessing for the spaces where my artwork finds itself later. In 2026 I will be participating in ArtPrize in Grand Rapids, MI for the second time.
